Roadmap
Where Echoes of Dices is heading: what already works, what is on the anvil right now and what waits its turn.
Done
Already live on the site
- 5e compendium — Eight reference sections: classes, races, backgrounds, feats, spells, bestiary, wondrous items and equipment.
- Article submissions — Players send entries to the compendium, editors sort them out in the admin panel.
- Cross-links and term hints — Entries link to each other and game terms expand on hover.
- 5e character sheets — They calculate modifiers, AC and spell slots; guests can use them without signing up.
- Tutorial for newcomers — Step-by-step character creation on the real races and classes of the site.
- Sheet printing to PDF — The official sheet layout, a dark theme and separate pages for spells and notes.
- Word counter — Word count and spellchecking for GM texts.
- Virtual tabletop — Rooms, maps, tokens, turn order and a distance ruler.
- Fog of war — Visibility is computed on the server — hidden things cannot be peeked at through the page source.
- Live tabletop — Cursors with nicknames, shared dice rolls, map pings and friend invites.
- Cartographer — World maps in 3D: terrain, forests, roads, resource zones and settlement markers.
- Homebrew workbench — A homebrew generator with Homebrewery-style markup, custom themes and Cyrillic fonts.
- Player book — The Echoes of Times section is bound into a 3D book with tabs instead of scattered menu items.
- Market and haggling — Traders with personality, reputation and an "accept / counter-offer / walk away" split.
- Trade log — A history of deals with the full roll formula and outcome of every trade.
- World map and settlements — Settlement heads, economy and construction that follow the in-game calendar.
- Diggers Society — A catalogue of finds and a way to hand them over to the archive.
- Player profile — Characters, friends, comment rating and privacy settings.
- Profile frame skins — Animated frames drawn by the project's artist — from Frozen Lands to the Great Old One.
- Belongings — A Steam-style profile inventory: backgrounds, chests and creativity points.
- Marketplace — Players resell backgrounds to each other for creativity points, the platform takes a fee.
- Liar's dice — A multiplayer game with bets in in-game gold.
- VK, Discord and Google sign-in — Plus linking social accounts to an existing profile.
- Martha the bot — A character sheet as an image right in the chat and board deadlines in the community feed.
- English version — The compendium at /en, filled from SRD 5.1 material.
- Search visibility — Prerendered pages with real text, a sitemap and human-readable URLs.
- Live notifications — Invites and events arrive instantly on any page of the site.
- Visit analytics — Sections, devices, tools and sign-in method summarised in the admin panel.
On the anvil
Being built right now
- The roadmap — The page you are reading: project plans out in the open instead of a private board.
- Workbench out of beta — Exporting the finished document to PDF and a set of page templates.
- Virtual tabletop out of beta — What is left is polishing interface details and dropping the "beta" label.
- Cartographer for everyone — Access is granted one by one right now — we will open it to every player.
Next stop
Picked up in the coming rounds
- Tools on the phone — The tabletop, cartographer and workbench hide on mobile — they need at least a viewing mode.
- Sheets at the table — A character sheet next to the map: rolls and hit points without switching tabs.
- Encounter builder — Assemble a fight from the bestiary and drop the creatures straight onto the map.
- Homebrew library — Publish your own document and find someone else’s.
- English tool interface — The compendium is translated; sheets, tabletop and cartographer are not yet.
- Changelog — What changed on the site, as a list, without reading through the news.
- Search with filters — Global search will learn to narrow down to a single section.
- Achievements — Badges for sheets created, maps drawn and articles accepted.
On the horizon
We want it, but later
- Campaigns and groups — A page for your party: roster, GM notes and the session schedule.
- Discussions in the compendium — Comments and notes under compendium entries.
- 3D dice — Rolls with physics instead of a line in the log.
- Sound at the table — Music and ambience everyone in the room can hear.
- App on the phone — Installing the site as an app and working with sheets offline.
- Public API — Access to the compendium for third-party tools and bots.
